Food For Thought

Hello lovely readers

I trust you all had a wonderful Valentine's day! I know I did...

I, along with a few of my other Aquarian friends, celebrated our birthdays in the Mother City. I have developed a special fondness for the city, as well as it's people. Everything about the place is so beautiful but I'm sure many of you already know this. The celebrations lasted a week - which really felt like a month due to the long summer days. I did engage in a few more 'firsts' which I can't exactly call inspiring, but they were new nonetheless. Another 'first' for me was swimming with the penguins at Boulders Bay - I visited Cape Town plenty times but never ventured to that side of the peninsula. The drive there was scenic to say the least! I loved the quaint little coffee shops that line the streets!

Back the topic at hand -  going gluten and carb-free. I've been researching it recently (I know it's been out for ages but clearly I've been living under a rock) and had the pleasure of tasting a few carb - free meals during my holiday. I was really impressed with the taste! I tried a pizza made with cauliflower for the base, which got me interested in changing my diet. I am not a real dieter per se... I try to eat salad so I can eat dessert - I figured it's kind of a balanced diet. However, recently my skin has been going all sorts of crazy on me and I'm not happy. This evidently means my "diet" isn't working well for my skin. I've been doing a lot of research on the Banting diet as well but I don't know if I totally agree with the diet. I just need a diet that's going to give me perfect skin (and induce a bit of weight loss)!

Until I find the diet that's going to work for my skin I'll just stick to my salad - a - day theory and introduce more fresh greens into my diet until I've made a decision. What diets do you follow and do you see results?

Also, if you have any information (or recipes) on vegan, gluten-free diets please share it with me. You may find my email address in the Contacts Page.

What I wore:

I put this look together on the plane ride over. I wanted to do a sporty glam look as I've never photographed this look before. The sequined top is from Cotton On which is so versatile. I've worn it so many different ways already (but failed to get a decent snap). The ripped Boyfriend denim is from Zara. Shoes from Steve Madden - I'm still enjoying the block heel trend. The aviators are from Ray Ban and the peak cap, you can find it online from Zando.co.za
