Tunnel Vision

Great News! I am officially the newest member of 4 Elements Media! I'm quite excited to be a part of their amazing team. The year has already gotten off to a great start and I'm excited for what this year has in store for me!

These images were shot just before sunset so we didn't have much time as we were chasing day light. When I put this look together I saw myself at an African safari hence why I needed the lightweight fabrics and light colours. I modelled a few options for my mom and this one was the winner. As I grow older, I find myself choosing looser cuts and silhouettes, especially in Summer. The worst thing for me is wearing something thats' stuck to my body and making me feel like I'm wearing a sausage casing. 

I especially liked the lace-up detail and the pockets of the shirt, which is very on trend at the moment. The pants is actually the same pants as my previous post in a different colour. I am like that though. If I really like something I want it in all colours.

I slept really late last night so I'm going to take a nap. Have a great weekend! xoxo

Coffee Break

Can this year end already??? Its the final stretch and boy am I am feeling it! On a happier note though, work is almost over and I can't wait to relax! I have been watching everyone's snaps on Snapchat - most of them are on holiday. One of my friends is giving me major envy with all his Thailand snaps while I'm snapping myself at work! I don't have anything planned this year however I do wish to spend quality time with my family. I feel like I haven't seen then all year! 

Pagiel and I shot this at the Durban Botanic Gardens after a shoot we had done. We needed something to cool us down after working in the blazing sun all morning and ended up doing an impromptu photoshoot for me. My look was casual and cool, allowing me to move freely and work efficiently in the heat. The satin pyjama-style top is from Zara, it's probably the coolest shirt I own. The jeans are from Mr Price which was purchased for a photoshoot but made it's way into my closet. Lastly, the shoes are from Zara, which are still in stock in some stores.

Birthday Month

It's the First of February, my birthday month! Birthdays have always been a big deal for me more-so because my birthday falls on the most romantic day of the year - Valentines Day, which has its pros and cons however I prefer to look at the pros. I'm a firm believer of "love thyself" because if you can't be happy with yourself and spoil yourself once in a while, no one will. Every year I plan a little something for myself so this year my friends and I have planned a relaxing week away including luxurious spa days, dazzling sunrises, breathtaking sunsets and lots of cake! There's nothing better than spending your special day with those dear to you. I always say 'it's not what you do, it's who you do it with'.

What I Wore:

I wore this to a casual lunch out with friends. It was a gorgeous sunny day so I chose a cerise top which I purchased from Forever New and paired it with these ripped Zara Jeans. I can't understand why they made the tears below the knee, and the wash is darker from the calves down. I took the price tag off before I noticed it so I'm wearing it, but it just doesn't look as cool! The army studded pumps are from Stradivarius and the neck piece is from Mr Price. I've recently gotten over wearing lots of jewellery so I'm usually wearing the same stuff or no jewellery at all. It's all part of this minimalistic state of mind that I seem to have contracted.

Golden Globes 2014 Red Carpet Looks

Awards season is here! Starting with The Golden Globes where tv and movie stars come together to celebrate all the best in tv and film. The host duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey once again graced the audience with their presence and just as expected, the two brought laughs and entertainment throughout the night. 

On to the most important part of the event, the gorgeous gowns that graced the red carpet. The trends this year were just to die for with Colour Blocking making a strong appearance as well as Berry Tones and Monochrome but the biggest trend this year was Crimson. Everyone seemed to be rocking a red dress or red lip, Lupita Nyong'o stole the show in a simple but stunning Ralph Lauren cape dress. Another noted trend was the short bob, from Taylor Swift's pinned up faux bob to Jeniffer Lawrence's pixie cut, almost everyone seemed to be rocking a slighty shorter 'do for the 2014 Golden Globes.

Here are my picks for the night.

Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen and Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. She nailed it once again. I'm glad she took a risk and went with this dress instead of her usual a-line, plunging neckline dresses. This is definitely my favourite of the night. 

Taylor Swift in Carolina Herrera. Stunning as usual in this chic, beautifully detailed frock.

Mila Kunis shimmered in a platinum Gucci gown with an art deco inspired sequin detail and flower neckline. beautiful!

Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad. Does this beauty ever get it wrong? swoon.

Kaley Cuoco in Lebanese designer Rani Zakhem. I like the dress, I just don't like it on her. The styling is all wrong and the colour is just too close to her skin tone. Not a favourite of mine.

Michelle Dockery in Oscar de la Renta. The only problem with this dress is it's the same tone as her skin, otherwise beautiful.

Olivia Wilde in Gucci. She looked absolutely radiant but this reminds me too much of Angelina Jolie.

Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren. Simple, elegant, breathtaking.

                                     

Sarah Hyland in a salmon pink Georges Hobeika gown. This gown looks lovely against her skin but seriously underwhelming. Maybe a statement neckpiece would add to it. 

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. She looks cute with the short hairdo but the dress missed the spot.  

Julie Bowen in Carolina Herrera. Beautiful and elegant. A bigger earring would have added another dimension to the dress however.

Kelly Osbourne in Escada. I do like this dress but the styling is all wrong. She looks a bit manly and that hair style does nothing for her. Also, I'm so over the purple hair!

Julia Roberts looking like a secretary in this Dolce and Gabbana ensemble. It looks like she had a lightbulb moment and decided to wear the shirt. The dress minus the shirt would have looked stunning on her.

Paula Patton in Stephane Rolland Couture. She definitely missed the mark with this dress and I would have preferred a sandal maybe.

Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung. Not too sure how I feel about this one, at first glance I hated it but as I kept looking it it, it grew on me. She looks absolutely amazing for a 49 year old woman.
